Saying it well

See the difference?⁣

Sometimes it’s not 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 you say but 𝘩𝘰𝘸 you say it BUT sometimes it is what you say 😊⁣

You notice someone is upset and you really want to help, but you don’t know how. ⁣

So you ask, “What’s wrong with you?” ⁣

The other person responds with silence or irritation and you don’t understand why. You mean well. You’re just trying to help. Why did they snap at you?⁣

Sometimes conversation styles aren’t always clear. Asking in this way is direct but not necessarily inviting. There isn’t much empathy, warmth, or openness for the other person. ⁣

However...⁣

“Is there something wrong?” ⁣

Asking in this manner demonstrates care, concern and a willingness to listen. It’s not judging or impatient. It is more gentle and supportive. ⁣
