Worrying about what others will think of you, how they will respond, or feeling guilty for disappointing them?
If so, that’s amazing. But for most of us, it can be a struggle.
It may have started when we were younger and the messages review received from our parents OR it may be related to our lack of self-confidence.
Whatever the 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 for the hesitation is not as important as the 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 to make a change.
How can you become more assertive? More confident? And get what you want?
1. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤: think about what it is you 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 want so you are clear.
2. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧: plan possible solutions or ideas on how to get what you want, how to ask for what you need
3. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞: practice what you want to say, write an email draft but don’t send, and rehearse with a close friend for feedback
4. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: change takes time so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results right away.
And Keep trying - it gets easier!
